Chapter 01

Author's POV.....

"Don't!! Dare you tease me more than this!! It's enough, yaar. How can you treat your brother-in-law like this?" The complaining voice of a young man made the other man and woman laugh. He made a grumbled face and walked out of the room.

"Where are you going? Near her?" The lady teased him again. He glared at her and told her,

"Mom!! Di wants to help you in the kitchen. Please call her...... Go and help my mother! Don't just sit and eat, also give some work to your husband!" She threw a pillow in his direction, but he caught it, sticking his tongue out at her.

"Tch tch tch! Your husband didn't teach you to target. So bad! Moti!" He returned the pillow in the same way it had come.

"Saransh!!!" Naira chided, yelling his name, but it was of no use as he had already run from there, irritating his elder sister. Vaibhav sat on the bed, holding his stomach as these brother and sister never left a chance to pull each other's leg. Till now, there was the one taking the lead in pulling legs, but at last, Saransh took it to irritating them to no end.

"Why are you laughing? Bahot maza aa raha hai kya!!" (You are having so much fun, right?)

She hit the pillow on his arm and sat on a side. Vaibhav kissed her on the cheek, trying to mend her.

"It's dinner time. Come fast." She nodded as they both walked downstairs.

Here, on the other hand, Saransh walked straight inside his room, scrolling through his mobile phone. He sat down on the couch and chuckled while reading something. Getting too much engaged in his mobile, he forgot about someone else's presence. The person who was present in the room got surprised, or one can say shocked, seeing him coming all of a sudden without knocking. She turned to him, with her back now facing the mirror.

Her eyelashes lowered out of embarrassment as before she was fixing the hooks of her dress and was halfway through it, but he entered. Now she couldn't even move from there. Holding the backside of her dress in her fist, she stood there like a statue. Saransh was checking his mobile, but suddenly, he dropped it down in an attempt to shift comfortably on the couch. He made an irritated face and bent down to take it when his vision caught the sight of a beautiful lady standing in front of the mirror, facing him.

He stood up, checking her out from toes to hair. The black dress neatly hugging her body till her knees with the churidar. Her glow is increasing day by day! He thought as a smile curled over his lips. The slight redness of her cheeks curled his smile more widely, but somehow, he put it back, not wanting to leave her in embarrassment. The way he was staring at her, she had already begun checking herself, as if confirming that she wasn't looking weird.

"I am sorry, I forgot to knock. I'm going. You can get ready."

He said, bringing his senses out of the trance. He bent down and picked up his mobile. Walking near her, he stood in front of her as she looked up curiously at him. Again taking one more step closer, he placed his phone on the dressing table and stepped back.

She hit herself in the mind as, for a few minutes, she had imagined something else, which caused a red blush on her cheeks. Quickly covering it, she held on to the back of her dress more tightly.

Saransh noticed it as her backside was visible in the mirror.

"Why are you standing like this? Any problem? I can help you." The statement surprised her even more! Did he just offer to help? Or was she dreaming? Her thoughts roamed around, but suddenly, he snapped his finger in front of her as she focused on him.

"Can I help?" His raised eyebrow positioned back as she shook her head negatively.

"Call Naira di, she will help me. You don't have to bother." Her words were polite as she really didn't want to trouble him for small things like this, and moreover, she was also feeling shy to ask for his help. Her heart wanted to let go with the flow, but at the same time, it didn't want to.

"It's fine. I'm here for you. At least I can help my wife. Don't worry, I won't make you uncomfortable!"

"No, it's not like that! I just don't want to trouble you." He smiled sweetly, blinking his eyes.

"It's okay!"

With this, he stepped closer to her, wrapping his arms around her back and taking hold of her dress where she had clutched it. His palm touched hers as she smiled at it. His perfume smell hit her nostrils, drowning her mad. Unknowingly, her hands reached in front of his chest, and she lightly placed her palm on the hard, toned chest of her husband. A strong feeling hit his mind and heart too, which caused both of them to smile, but they were unaware of each other's effect on one another as their faces weren't front to front.

Carefully, Saransh hooked her dress and made sure that it wouldn't trouble her later. He then looked at their figures in the mirror and smiled.

How good they are looking together. It looked like the lost puzzles had fitted with each other and were now looking beautiful after coming together. His hands moved up as he dearly wanted to hug her closer to him and never let her go away from his embrace.

Before he could touch her, a voice came from behind as they both maintained distance from one another.

"Come for dinner first, then do this work for WHOLE NIGHT."

The single statement left them both in the darkest shade of red. Her hand led the hair trace behind her ear as she hurriedly walked out of the room, not having the guts to look into his eyes after what her sister-in-law said.

Saransh also nervously combed his back hair with his fingers as he was not getting anything to come out of this shyness. How can he be so nervous in front of her? What's happening with him? He, the IPS officer, who never got nervous in any situation, is behaving like a shy girl nowadays. And why? Because he has begun developing feelings for his wife? For God's sake, she is his wife, not any other lady on whom he can't show his right!

Whatever it is, leaving everything on hold, he walked out of the room, or else his dear elder sister would tease him more.

Everyone settled down on their respective chairs as the women served food, and everyone started to have the delicious dinner.

"Janvi, what did your husband gift you? I don't think he gifted you something good!" Naira threw taunting words at her brother as he returned the same with a grumbled smile.

Janvi looked at her, then lowered her face as it saddened a little as upsetness flashed on her face. She glanced at him from the corner of her eyes and decided to keep silent.

"That means he gave nothing?..... Saransh? You didn't give her a birthday gift." She glared at her brother, and with her, Pallavi and Anand too joined. Raghini, Tarun, and Vaibhav were chuckling as they knew Janvi wouldn't take these little things seriously ever.

"Woh, I_"

"Saransh had ordered the gift, but the delivery didn't come on time. Maybe it will come tomorrow." Before he could spell out the words, Janvi took a long breath. Hearing her answer, Saransh snapped his head at her. He looked stunned. She gazed back at him, giving a little smile.

"Oh, I see! Fine, tell me after you get it. I don't think he will gift something unique." She shrugged her shoulders.

"Okay, now enough! Stop your blah blah now! Yaar, Mom, Dad ki beti ko samjhao kuch. She is completely spoilt!" Saransh chided as they all sat on the couch after finishing dinner. Janvi sat with her father and mother, while Naira sat with her father, and Saransh and Vaibhav were beside each other.

"Riya has slept." Raghini asked her daughter-in-law, who smiled in return.

"From the time we had come here, my daughter isn't my daughter. Janvi has taken all the care of her. She forgot her mother too." Raghini looked at her daughter after hearing Naira. Janvi hugged her as she rested her head on her mother's shoulder.

"Let's go, everyone, and take rest. We have to leave in the morning." Tarun told them as his wife, son, and daughter-in-law nodded.

"Stay for some more days, all of you." Anand spoke up.

"I really wish to, but there's a lot of work to do. We will come next time for more days." They both walked side by side, following Raghini and Pallavi.

Vaibhav and Naira too left for their room, and now Janvi was also getting up to go to her and Saransh's room, but as always, her husband had no plan to return back as he again got busy on his mobile.

She felt jealous of it as he never gave her attention in front of that so-called mobile of his, but she couldn't even spell it out, thinking he would get mad at her. Though now his habits, nature, likes, and everything were known to her. After all, it's been almost two years since their marriage.

Still, they lived like strangers with each other. They never had long talks with each other. Just some friendly talks and nothing more than this. Neither could he ever interfere in hers, nor could she. Both showed that they had a good bonding with each other, but only if it were true. The actual truth was Saransh didn't like her. Even she used to dislike him, but day by day, her feelings changed for him, and love also bloomed in her heart for her husband. But he hadn't yet, which only left her with a sad sigh!

Thinking about a lot, she reached her room and got inside the washroom to change into her night suit. In the meantime, Saransh also entered the room. He checked around as she wasn't there, probably gone inside the washroom. He too took off his shirt and put on a white T-shirt with black joggers.

Janvi came out as she dried her face and applied moisture to it. She seemed tired after running the whole day behind her little two-year-old niece and her dance academy too. She arranged the bed, putting two pillows in the middle and taking the other side.

All this was seen by Saransh. He pressed his lips together, seeing the wall of pillows. Now it was feeling like a thing to throw away. He didn't want anything between them, not even a non-living thing, but did she want the same? Wouldn't she be uncomfortable? He sighed and walked to his side. His hand was in the pocket of his pants.

"Janvi!?" He voiced out before she lay down. Turning her face towards him, she hummed in response, showing all her attention to him.

"Why did you lie to Di about that gift? You should have told the truth. Even I had forgotten your birthday and didn't gift you anything." He asked her. She took her gaze down, playing with her fingers as she didn't have a guess about what to answer.

"Then Maa, Papa, and Bhabhi would have scolded you. And it's not your mistake either. You must have forgotten due to the workload. If Bhabhi asks, then I will show my new saree. Don't worry, I'll manage." She tried to smile, but in actuality, she was a little hurt too. Last year, she had not expected anything from him, but this time, there was a gut feeling that he would gift her something, but her wish broke.

Pulling the duvet, she was going to sleep, but he again stopped her.

"Still, you are my wife! I shouldn't have forgotten. Btw, I want to give you something." He spoke out and took his palm out.

His fist was closed as a nervous smile plastered on his face. Janvi was clueless, thinking about what he must want to give her. She wiggled her eyebrows in confusion as soon as he held her wrist. A chill ran down her spine, but she didn't react, not wanting to deepen it more.

Saransh opened his fist as he showed her the beautiful single-chained bracelet adorned with a diamond design on it. By just looking at it, it seemed delicate to her. Her eyes shone as they softened and she also felt shy. He bought it for her? Really?

"I am sorry, I forgot to wish you yesterday and also didn't gift you anything. Please accept my gift and forgive me!" With such cuteness, he said this line, melting her heart and making it fall more for him. She smiled widely and stretched out her hand, allowing him to make her wear it.

His fingers touching her wrist made the wild movement of butterflies in her stomach.

She blushed, looking at the beautiful gift from her handsome man. He had forgotten her birthday, but then also, he made it special for her. What more does she need? She just needs her husband and his love, which she will get one day.

Saransh lifted his face after completing the task of tying the bracelet on her wrist. He saw her smiling at his gift, which automatically brought a smile to his lips.

"Hope you liked this!? I didn't have any clue about the gift, so I got this bracelet for you. I promise, I'll try to learn your favorite things and then gift accordingly. Also, from next time, I'll be the first one to wish you on your birthday." He promised, holding her palm in his. Janvi felt her skin burning as a deep blush printed on her fair cheeks.

Unaware of his effect on her, Saransh confusingly gazed at her. She didn't look up into his eyes and took her hand back due to shame. Turning to her side, a wide smile appeared on her lips. She lay down, facing her back to him. Saransh ruffled his hair as he was finding words to have a conversation with her, but nothing was forming on his tongue. He shifted to his side and felt the pillows, which frustrated him more.

"Janvi?!" His call made her look at him as she asked what the matter was.

"Can I remove this pillow wall?..... I mean! I_vo_yeah! Right! Last night, I fell off the bed because of this. These pillows occupy the whole bed, and I don't get enough space to sleep. So, c_a_n I remove them?"

She gazed at him blankly as now she was confirmed that something had happened to her husband. Why suddenly was he behaving weirdly?

"As you say! And be careful, don't fall again." He nodded as his face was plastered with the happiest smile ever.

Placing the pillows under their heads, he lay down. There was still a gap between them, which he would soon fill with lots of love and care for her......
